General Information

These instructions apply to the use and care of the M5 Pro-Ply™ uncoated and ceramic coated cookware made by Fissler.

Read the instructions for use and care thoroughly. Improper use can lead to damage.

1. Before First Use

M5 Pro-Ply™ Uncoated Cookware

Please rinse uncoated cookware thoroughly. Fill pan halfway with water and include a tablespoon of lemon juice. Bring to a boil and let boil for approximately 2 minutes. This will remove any polishing dust as well as any impurities and will treat the cookware before it is used for the first time.

M5 Pro-Ply™ Ceramic Coated Cookware

Rinse coated cookware thoroughly. Fill pan halfway with water. Bring to a boil and let boil for approximately 2 minutes. When cool, pour out water from pan. Apply 3 - 4 drops of oil to a paper towel and rub it onto the inside of the pan to provide an additional layer of protection.

2. Safety Instructions

  • To ensure safe use, suitable hand protection must be used. Handles can become hot, especially when cooking with high heat or using them in the oven.
  • On gas stovetops, make sure to place cookware in the center of the stovetop flame to avoid flashover.
  • To avoid overheating and damage (particularly with an induction stovetop), never heat the cookware unattended or on the highest setting. Furthermore, follow the stove manufacturer's instructions for use.
  • Extreme overheating can melt the aluminum inside the base. Should this occur, never remove the cookware from the burner while hot to avoid burns. Turn off the stove and allow the cookware to completely cool off on the stovetop.
  • Overheating the ceramic coated cookware has a negative impact on the nonstick effect and can result in the coating burning and smoke being generated. In the case of overheating, which can also result if the liquid has completely evaporated, never immediately remove the cookware from the stovetop. Turn off the stove and allow the cookware to completely cool off on the stovetop.
  • Should overheating occur, the bottom of the cookware may change color on the outside, but this does not affect functionality.
  • For frying, only use oils/fats suitable for high heat. If the oil/fat generates smoke, it is already burned, and the frying temperature is too high.
  • Never use water to extinguish a grease fire – use a fire blanket or the matching lid.
  • To avoid getting burned by grease foaming up or spattering, avoid overheating the pan and do not fill the cookware with oil higher than one third of its height. Do not overheat the oil.
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes. Never put cold water or frozen food in a hot pan or plunge a hot pan into cold water. Sudden changes in temperature may cause any metal to warp, resulting in an uneven bottom.
  • Do not allow handles to extend over a hot burner. Make sure they do not extend past the edge of the cooking surface.
  • Always use suitable hand protection when removing lids, holding any handles, and removing pans from a hot oven.
  • Never use the cookware in a microwave oven.

3. Instructions for Use

General

  • Always place the cookware on a heat-resistant mat or trivet after use and not directly on an unprotected work surface.
  • A well-fitting lid can attach itself to the pot when cooling off (vacuum effect). To avoid this effect, dry off the rim of the cookware and lid before allowing both to cool off. Furthermore, you can eliminate the vacuum by briefly reheating the cookware.
  • Caution: if the oil/fat starts to smoke, the grease is already degrading, and the frying temperature is too high. Monitor the heating and frying process. Correctly monitoring and adjusting the stove temperature protects against overheating. Thanks to Fissler's "Made in Germany" quality, the cookware only needs to be heated to medium heat (2/3) for perfect results. This protects the high-quality coating and significantly extends the life of the cookware.

Uncoated Cookware

Boiling: Never add salt to cold water, only to boiling water, and then stir. Adding salt to cold water can cause extremely high concentrations of salt on the bottom of the cookware, which can lead to corrosion spots. These changes to the surface cannot be removed but do not affect the function or cooking characteristics.

Frying: Uncoated cookware is used for crispy browning of foods. It is particularly suitable for meat without breadcrumbs such as steak, chicken, or kebabs.

  • Heat up cookware without any oil/fat at medium heat (2/3 of the stove maximum).
  • Put a few drops of cold water into the cookware. When these form crystal clear pearls and "dance" in the cookware, the correct temperature has been reached to fry the meat (with or without oil/fat). Please wait until the drops of water have evaporated before adding oil/fat or the food to the cookware.
  • Press the food down firmly. It will cease sticking to the bottom of the cookware after several minutes and can then be flipped.
  • Now, turn down the heat and cook the meat to the desired temperature.
  • Do not store food, particularly salty or acidic food, in the cookware; store it in suitable bowls or containers. Non-compliance can cause corrosion spots.

Coated Cookware

  • Use coated cookware for gentle frying. It is particularly suitable for foods that tend to stick (e.g. fish, fried potatoes, egg dishes or breaded foods).
  • The non-stick coating is made with Fissler's water-based Ceratal® ceramic coating, crafted without PFAS/PTFE.
  • Always use suitable oil/fat for frying. Always use enough oil/fat when using the cookware.
  • For the Ceratal® coated cookware, in order to avoid scratching it is recommended to only use wood, plastic covered (including silicone) or nylon utensils. Do not cut food in coated cookware and do not use any sharp objects. Heavily scratched cookware should be replaced.
  • Non-stick effects will decrease over the life of the product. It is advised to replace ceramic coated cookware every 2 years pending use.
  • To avoid overheating, never heat the coated cookware while it is unattended or on the highest setting. A temperature of 450°F (230°C) should not be exceeded when frying. Temperatures of up to 480°F (250°C) are permissible for a short period of time (up to 15 minutes).
  • Suitable for oven use up to 450°F (230°C) and only for cookware with stainless-steel handles. Do not use the broil or grill function.
  • Do not use aerosol cooking spray: An invisible buildup will impair the non-stick release system causing food to stick to the pan.

4. Stovetop Suitability

  • Fissler M5 Pro-Ply™ cookware is suitable for gas and electric stoves (electric burners and ceramic cooktops) as well as induction stovetops. Under certain circumstances, the induction stove may make a noise which can be attributed to the electromagnetic properties of the heat source and the cookware.
  • When using the cookware, please always make sure it has a solid position in the middle of the burner.
  • Always use a suitably sized burner for energy efficiency; the diameter of the bottom of the cookware should be the same as or larger than the burner.
  • Use the correct size lid (depending on dish and cooking method).
  • To avoid scratching ceramic glass stovetops, you should always lift your cookware when moving it. Fissler does not assume any liability for damages resulting from this.

5. Oven Usability

  • Uncoated cookware is oven safe.
  • Do not heat the cookware over 450°F (230°C).
  • Do not use the broil/grill function with coated cookware.

6. Care & Cleaning

Uncoated

  • Uncoated cookware is suitable for dishwasher use.
  • Use hot water with regular dish soap and a cloth, sponge, or soft brush.
  • Please avoid pointy or sharp objects.
  • You can use the scrubber side of a sponge if the inside and base of the cookware is very dirty.
  • Do not allow leftover food to dry in the cookware; this can stain and alter the surface. If this does occur, add hot water to the cooled off cookware after use, let soak for at least 5 minutes (this will help loosen up stuck food), then remove all leftover foods.
  • To maintain the surface, we recommend using a stainless-steel care product on a regular basis. It is also excellent for removing white spots and tarnish and any built-up film.
  • Do not use oven cleaner or any cleaner that is harsh or contains chlorine bleach.

Coated

  • The Ceratal® ceramic coating is not suitable for dishwasher use. Putting the Ceratal® ceramic coated cookware in the dishwasher can significantly shorten the life of your cookware because dishwasher cleaning is significantly more chemically aggressive.
  • To achieve optimum frying performance, the coated cookware can be rubbed with a little cooking oil before each use.
  • Large amount of iron content in water used in contact with the cookware may cause cookware to appear rusty.
  • For the Ceratal® coated cookware, to avoid scratching it is recommended to only use wood, plastic covered (including silicone) or nylon utensils. Do not cut food in coated cookware and do not use any sharp objects. Heavily scratched cookware should be replaced.
  • To clean: hand wash with warm or hot water, dishwashing liquid, and a soft sponge – do not use abrasive, scratching detergents or sponges.

7. Legal Warranty and Manufacturer's Warranty
