A saucepan is a versatile piece of cookware. This hybrid between a pot and a pan allows for stirring and reducing liquids as well as browning and heating meat, vegetables, and other pan dishes.
Preparing Sauces, Purées or Creams
Saucepans are ideal for preparing sauces, purées, or creams. The long handle stays cool even at high cooking temperatures, offering a secure grip that allows you to hold the pan and whisk at the same time with ease.
Fissler saucepans are equipped with different handles depending on the model:
- Stay-cool metal handle (Original-Profi Collection® saucepan): The solidly built handle maintains a comfortably low temperature (<122 °F) for an exceptionally long time on standard household stoves. The heat-insulating joint between pot body and handle adds extra safety.
- Stainless steel handle (5 Ply): The thermal properties of stainless steel ensure the handle always stays at a comfortable temperature.
Heating up smaller portions
Fissler saucepans have a diameter of 6.3-inch, making them particularly easy to handle.
Thanks to the optimal and rapid heat absorption, distribution, and retention of the exclusive, energy-efficient CookStar® base of the Original-Profi Collection® saucepan or the Superthermic® base of the Bonn and Viseo® saucepans, small portions can be heated quickly and evenly—on all types of stoves, including induction.
Searing and braising food
For braising, casserole or roasting pots are generally the best option. However, you can also sear and braise foods in Fissler saucepans—ideally with a version that includes a lid.
The Condensate Plus feature of the Original-Profi Collection® saucepan—with its slightly concave metal lid—causes condensed steam to drip back into the pot, making food even juicier and more flavorful.
Due to their steep sides, saucepans are not suitable for tossing food. In such cases, it's better to use a sauté pan. Fissler also offers suitable products in this category.
