Steaming in a pressure cooker

Steaming in a pressure cooker

Steam cooking is a healthy and gentle way to prepare food, in which the food is cooked in a closed container using steam. A pressure cooker is perfect for this, as it traps the steam inside the pot, enabling optimal cooking.

Here's how it works

The Vitavit® Premium has a pressureless steam cooking setting. With the help of an insert, you can also gently steam food in the pressure cooker. The steam escapes through the cooking crown and the cooking time is the same as for conventional cooking. You can find the cooking time finder here.

Advantages of steam cooking in a pressure cooker

1. Preservation of nutrients

Gentle cooking preserves vitamins and minerals.

2. Easy handling

The pot is easy to use and the steam regulator allows precise control of the cooking time.

3. Wide range of uses

Steam cooking is suitable for meat, fish, vegetables, and even desserts.

Here's how it works:

1. Pour in water

Fill the pot with a minimum amount of water (see “Min” mark).

3. Set the cooking level

Set the cooking crown to “steam cooking” and heat the pot for the regular duration.

4. No steaming necessary

Since no pressure builds up with this method, the cooking lid does not lift and the pot can be opened at any time without first releasing the steam.

Tip

Remove the hot mixture from the pot with a fork after the cooking time has elapsed.
